Ryan Linkof is associate curator at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which opens in early 2019. He is currently organizing the inaugural permanent collection exhibition, and he will be responsible for temporary exhibitions, publications, and artist commissions for the museum. Previously, he was assistant curator in the photography department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where he contributed to numerous projects, including most recently Robert Mapplethorpe: The Perfect Medium. He is the author of the forthcoming volume Public Images (with Bloomsbury Publishing), and his research has appeared in multiple exhibition catalogues, edited volumes, and scholarly journals, including Media History, Photography and Culture, and Études photographiques. He holds a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley, and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, where he has also served as a visiting professor.
